Sarah has particular knowledge of the 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition scheme and has been defending IRPs from all across British Columbia since they were first introduced in September, 2010. Sarah was the first of our office to be qualified to conduct DUI Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) in accordance with the NHTSA guidelines. Sarah completed the manufacture’s training to operate the Alco-Sensor FST, the newest breathalyzer used by BC police to issue IRPs.

Sarah is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). She is a contributing writer to the Georgia Straight and the Huffington Post. In addition to her work in Richmond, Vancouver and the B.C. Lower Mainland, Sarah also accepts criminal cases in cities and towns throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

Challenging IRP Driving Prohibitions

Our law office has succeeded in more Immediate Roadside Prohibitions cases than any other law office in the province. Sarah developed unique arguments on IRP 90-day driving prohibition cases, including challenging what evidence must be adduced to prove that the device used is in fact an Approved Screening Device.  The obligations on the police to provide certain evidence has been greatly influenced by arguments Sarah has advanced in IRP cases. She has extensive knowledge of proper police procedure in DUI investigations and she can identify police mistakes when defending IRP cases for her clients. Sarah is a dedicated IRP lawyer. She has been successful in a vast number of IRP DUI cases where individuals have provided a breath sample that result in a ‘WARN’ or ‘FAIL’ reading and in circumstances where individuals have failed or refused to provide breath samples.

Sarah is currently handling numerous IRP appeals in the BC Supreme Court.  She has secured the return of drivers licenses for hundred of clients in B.C.  She has also been successful in having driving prohibitions revoked on supplementary reconsideration by the Ministry of Justice and returned for a new review. Sarah advanced the first of many Petitions in BC Supreme Court that ultimately caused 1,200 Immediate Roadside Prohibition cases to be reconsidered by the Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles/RoadSafetyBC.

On their recent experiences with Sarah, two of her clients write:

“I was in a real bind, facing suspension of my license and possibly being off work for 3 months. Sarah took care of the matter without going to court or missing a single day on the road. Worth every penny.” Thanks, Brian

“I just want to thank you for solving my case.  Your wisdom and skills…are beyond what I have ever expected.  I am really pleased with the result.  I am also very impressed by your excellent attitude in helping clients.  From this experience, I would be privileged and honored to recommend you to all of my friends if they need legal service.  Overall, you are a true inspiration.  My respect for lawyers has been established to a whole new level.”

Sarah gives each case the detailed attention necessary to find the right defense. She has successfully defended criminal cases throughout the Lower Mainland of BC, including Richmond, Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Surrey, New Westminster and North Vancouver. She has defended driving and criminal cases from all around BC, getting the right results by relentlessly seeking out the defenses that work.

She explores all possible angles in driving prohibition cases to make the most comprehensive argument in order to get your license back. She has helped protect the driving privileges of thousands of British Columbians.

Sarah has the skills and expertise needed to successfully defend your case.
