  1. IRPs can be disputed. If you think you have been wrongly given an IRP, then you can dispute it. 
  2. You only have seven days to dispute an IRP. This is perhaps the most important detail about disputing IRPs and you will find it noted on the IRP paper in a pretty small font. Seven days can go by quickly so you should act promptly if you are considering disputing an IRP.
  3. IRPs are not criminal charges, they are administrative. The record of an IRP will be on your driving record, not a criminal record. 
  4. If you were in an accident and received an IRP, the IRP will likely trigger an investigation by your insurer. The IRP can serve as a sort of red flag to your insurer that you may not have been in compliance with your contract of insurance at the time of the accident.
  5. If you dispute the IRP, that does not make the IRP consequences worse. The consequences of an IRP do not change if you dispute the IRP. The noted consequences are on the IRP cannot be changed by filing an IRP in dispute.
