Congratulations to Acumen Law Corporation’s very own Kyla Lee. She is officially one of the most influential lawyers in Canada.
Canadian Lawyer magazine released the results of its 2019 Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers list.
More than six thousand lawyers voted for who they thought was the most influential from among 149 nominees. Kyla was picked in the Human Rights, Advocacy and Criminal category.
Canadian Lawyer said: “Inclusion in the Top 25 speaks to a level of respect, the ability to influence public opinion and to help shape the laws of this country and others; contribution to the strength and quality of legal services; involvement and impact within the justice community; and social and political influence and involvement.”

Kyla Lee has successfully led the development of administrative law in B.C. through judicial reviews of administrative decisions concerning the Immediate Roadside Prohibition legal scheme.
Her reputation has earned her three invitations to present to federal criminal law committees in Ottawa and two presentations to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights concerning bills C-51 and C-46.
Lee produces and appears in a weekly video blog, “Cases That Should Have Gone to the Supreme Court of Canada, But Didn’t” and maintains a popular blog. Lee volunteers for the Canadian Bar Association mentorship program, lectures at the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic in Vancouver and funds a UBC scholarship program for Indigenous law students.
Reacting being voted in the Top 25 most influential lawyers in Canada. news, Kyla said: “It’s nice to have some recognition from other members of the legal community.”
She added: “I’m not going to stop pushing constantly and advocating for change.”
“It was totally a surprise,” she said. “The people that were nominated in my category were some real heavy hitters and I didn’t think I stood a chance.”
