This past holiday season, police were out in full force looking to get impaired drivers off the road.
In over 3000 vehicles that were checked in the various roadblocks, Surrey RCMP were surprised because they did not find any criminal code impaired investigations or charges.

Kyla Lee: “We had a huge reduction over the Christmas season in the amount of new work that we were getting for criminal impaired driving charges.”
“It was a huge topic of discussion whereas in the previous years it hasn’t been in every news story every day and so studies have shown that the strongest deterrent from impaired driving is a combination of public discussion about the dangers of impaired driving and consistent visible enforcement.”
