ICBC is being called out for some cellphone misinformation in a distracted driving safety video. Global News Morning speaks with lawyer Kyla Lee about the error and she explains what is, and isn’t allowed, when it comes to cellphones in vehicles.
“Are you or are you not allowed to have your phone on your passenger seat?”
“You are allowed to have your phone loose on the passenger seat of your vehicle so long as you’re not actually touching it or using any of its features.”

“The law is drafted in an unclear way… If we see people like ICBC getting confused about what is and isn’t legal, that means the law isn’t drafted clearly enough.”
