Lawyer Kyla Lee, who specializes in these issues, says the appeals process is flawed.
“The way that the deck is stacked against people – you’re going to need a lawyer.”
Lee says new roadside machines don’t offer a manual setting for unusual situations like those with medical conditions. People are told written suspension appeals are simple, but without a lawyer people lose.
“If you don’t have a lawyer and you’re trying to wade into this as a first time person with no legal background, you are going to be over your head,” she says.
