A lawyer with Acumen Law is wondering when ICBC will fill in the big void of information ahead of this fall’s major changes to how auto insurance works.
Kyla Lee says ICBC has an obligation to inform British Columbians well ahead of September 1st when ICBC will change from insuring the vehicle to insuring the driver.
Not to mention an overhaul of how the safe drivers discount is calculated.
“I think everybody should be getting that information with at least three months warning before their insurance is due. So that they have time to save up money if they are going to pay more. Or so that they have the opportunity to make plans with surplus money if they are going to have extra. Insurance is a huge cost not everybody, in fact most people, are not in a position where they can shell out thousands of dollars on a moments notice.”
