VANCOUVER—Vancouver police have apologized and cancelled a distracted driving ticket issued to a driver who was fined for having a cellphone in the cupholder of her car, according to her lawyer.
Driving lawyer Kyle Lee said she is pleased with the decision.
“I am pleased the VPD took swift action to review the circumstances in this case and to put an end to the stress my client was experiencing,” she told Star Vancouver.
Randi Kramer was pulled over Monday in downtown Vancouver after a police officer spotted the cellphone in the cup holder. She was handed a $368 ticket for using an electronic device while driving.
Lee, who has successfully argued down distracted driving tickets in court before, took on Kramer’s case pro bono.
