“In these accidents there are often also people who are badly badly injured. They trot out the numbers about the fatalities, that is to try and bring attention of the public to this issue, but they always seem to omit the fact there are probably, for every fatality, two or three people are badly injured as well and lots of bad injury accidents out there on B.C. highways.”
“People are driving at 120km/h with a car length in between them, and two lanes of traffic just barrelling down the highway. You just have to have one small thing go wrong to lead to a horrific accident like this.”
“A lack of enforcement, an attitude by drivers and we end up with these circumstances and nobody ever thinks it’s going to happen to them.”
“Once you get to where it [Highway 1] narrows down to 2 lanes, driving eastbound, at that point basically from the 2 lanes all the way to Chilliwack, it’s just dangerous. It should be three lanes. There’s just so much traffic on it.”
“When they say pull over if you’re tired and have a nap, you better not have a nap in your car. Because when the police find you asleep in your car, long before they’ve even knocked on your window to wake you up, they’re assuming you’re drunk. They will start an impaired driving investigation at that moment.”
“A police officer is going to be knocking on your door, and you’re going to be subject to an impaired driving investigation, get out of driver seat [sleep in the backseat], whatever you do”
