Kyla Lee is organising another Women’s Suit Drive for UBC Law students. If you don’t know about it, last year Acumen Law accepted donations of professional attire and gave it to female law students at UBC.
The initiative was a partnership with the UBC Indigenous Legal Studies Program and the Centre for Feminist Studies.
In a nutshell, if you own a gently used women’s suit you don’t need any more, or if you would like to donate a new suit to a student, give it to us and we will make sure it goes to a UBC student who needs it.
Law students are expected to adhere to a strict dress code when they appear in court, however, the harsh reality is that women’s suits cost a lot. Often, they simply cannot afford one. So if you are fortunate enough to own a suit you no longer need, consider passing it on to a future lawyer.
We will accept suits, pants, blazers or other office-appropriate attire of any size, shape, colour and style.
If you would like to donate, you can drop items off at either our Vancouver or Richmond locations.
