Alright, let’s talk pot….more specifically driving under the influence. Drugged Driving. When recreational marijuana becomes legal on October 17th police will be in a position of trying to determine impairment ………. Without the luxury of a scientific roadside test, like a breathalyzer for alcohol. Currently there is no set limit on the amount of cannabis that you can have in your blood….. So …. How will this work? Well, to break down the LEGAL side of what is quickly becoming quite the confusing mess, we welcome Kyla Lee, Lawyer with Acumen Law.
…
Kyla: “They are creating measurable limits for THC concentrations in the blood. They’re saying that you can’t have between 2.5 to 5 nanograms of THC per 100 ml of blood”
Do we know how many nanograms land in a person’s blood based on what they consume?
Kyla: “No, it’s not possible to say that because it’s different for everybody particularly because if you are a cannabis user, you store it in your lipids, in your fat cells, so it breaks down over time.”
