“Police are often doing speeding crackdowns as soon as the weather gets nice and especially in the month of May… The most common way (police catch speeders) is using laser or radar enforcement. So they’ll usually be hiding somewhere you won’t see them right away – often opposite the side of the road that you’re travelling on.”
“What are some of the worst excuses that you’ve heard for speeding in court?”
“One of the worst ones that we hear commonly is ‘I really had to go to the bathroom’. That does not get any sympathy because there’s all sorts of places you can usually pull over… A gas station, local businesses… Another really common one is ‘I was just going with the flow of traffic’. If the flow of traffic is above the speed limit, then you are still breaking the law and just because everyone else is breaking the law doesn’t absolve you of any responsibility for your law-breaking conduct.”
